Beyond the Operating Room

“I don’t want to simply save a life. I want to be part of helping that life return to normal.”

Every patient who enters an operating room carries a story — a family waiting outside, a life interrupted, and a hope that things can become normal again.

As a Neurosurgeon, I specialize in the surgical management of complex disorders of the brain and spine, including brain and spinal tumours, neurovascular conditions, trauma and other challenging neurosurgical disorders.

But over time, I began to see something beyond the operating room. A successful surgery is only one part of recovery.

For a patient with a stroke, head injury, spinal disorder or major neurological illness, the real journey often begins after the surgery — when they have to learn to sit, stand, walk, speak, move and eventually become independent again.

That is where my philosophy of care begins. I believe that treating the disease is not enough. We must treat the person.

This belief led me to establish an advanced neuro-rehabilitation initiative in Pune, bringing together modern rehabilitation technology, robotic therapy and dedicated physiotherapy with the clinical understanding of a neurosurgical team.

Because I want to be there beyond the operating table.
From the diagnosis to surgery.
From surgery to rehabilitation.
From the hospital bed to the first step.

My goal is simple — to provide patients and their families with a complete continuum of care, where advanced neurosurgery and rehabilitation work together towards one ultimate outcome:

For me, the most rewarding moment is not always when a surgery is completed. Sometimes, it is when a patient takes that first step again.
